The History of Scientific Journals

The research journey in the world passes through different stages tremendously and aids human society in technological and informative advancement. It's inevitable to think about the research without the contribution of scientific journals, as they possess significant roles in developmental studies and future research in social and scientific research. Hence the contribution of eminent scholars to the world of research with the establishment and publications of scientific journals and periodicals in the early stage can never be ignored. This blog post depicts the evolution of publications throughout time.

the Journal des Sçavans 

• The first academic periodical was the Journal des Sçavans whose first issue appeared in Paris in January 1665. 
• The Journal des Scavans, the first collection of scientific essays, was introduced  by Denis de Sallo, there was no peer review process in place.
• DE Sallo’s goal was to simply report the findings of others rather than guarantee their results.
• The Journal des Sçavans covered the whole range of academic disciplines and was made up mainly of book reviews.
• Still in existence as Le Journal des Savants
• This was followed two months later by the Philosophical Transactions in London
